DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) – The Loras men's tennis team had their four-match winning streak snapped on Wednesday, falling to the University of Dubuque, 6-3. The Duhawks record dropped to 7-5 overall and 1-1 in the Iowa Conference.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- The Spartans started out strong in the match by snatching wins at No. 1 and 2 doubles by scores of 8-2 and 8-5 respectively.
- At No. 3 doubles, the senior pair of Ulises Hernandez and Neil Kane would not be phased by the Spartan fast start and won their match, 8-4, moving their doubles record to 6-3 on the year.
- The Spartans' momentum could not be stopped and they ended up taking the wins at the top four singles spots. Dubuque's win at No. 1 singles clinched the match for the Spartans.
- Sophomore Kevin Murphy continued his success in his debut season with the Duhawks, winning at No. 5 singles in straight sets 6-1, 6-3. With this win, the Spokane, Wash. native moves his singles record to 7-2 in 2016.
- Kane sustained his dominance in the singles portion by winning his fifth consecutive straight set win 6-1, 6-2. The Manchester, Iowa native moves his singles record to 8-4 on the year.
UP NEXT
The Duhawks will look to get back to their winning ways when they travel to Waverly, Iowa this Saturday to take on Luther in a neutral site match. The Norse 13-9 this season and 2-0 in the Iowa Conference. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
