AURORA, Ill. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's and women's tennis teams posted wins over Aurora on Friday afternoon by scores of 9-0 on the men's side and 6-3 on the women's side.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
- The Duhawks broke out of the gates strong by winning the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches.
- At No. 2 doubles, junior Jessica Dickhut and freshman Emma Cooke won their second consecutive doubles match, 8-2, improving their record on the year to 5-2. The sophomore pair of Ayla Graziano and Rachel Molidor represented the Duhawks well at No. 3 doubles winning their match 8-4. This win takes their doubles' record to 3-2 on the year.
- Loras kept the momentum going into the singles portion of the match by winning four of the six singles spots.
- Dickhut needed a third set tiebreak to win her No. 1 singles match and the final score was 6-2, 4-6, 11-9. This close win moves her singles record to 3-13 on the season.Â
- Sophomore Kylie DeWees won her second match of the year over her opponent in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. The Marion, Iowa native now holds a 2-4 singles record on the year.
- Cooke was unscathed in her No. 3 singles match by winning in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. This convincing win moves her single record to 8-9.
- At No. 5 singles, Graziano picked up the win for the Duhawks by way of a 6-1, 6-4 score line. Graziano now holds an even .500 record in singles play at 8-8 on the year.
- The Duhawks started the match out strong by winning at each doubles match.
- At No. 1 doubles, the pair of junior Jason Derby and sophomore Kevin Murphy got back on the winning side of a match as a pair winning 8-3 moving their record to 8-1 on the year.
- No. 2 doubles featured the freshman team of Sean Baldwin and Riley Michel who raced out to an 8-1 win.
- At No. 3 doubles, freshman Tom Auge and senior Ulises Hernandez won their first ever match as a pair in convincing fashion 8-0.
- Derby needed another game in the second set of his No. 1 singles match, but won in straight sets 6-1, 7-5 moving his singles record to 6-5 on the season
- At No. 2 singles, Hernandez went to a tie break in his second set with his opponent, but came out on top winning 6-0, 7-6 (7-3)
- Murphy won his match at No. 3 singles, losing two games in the entire match with the final score being 6-1, 6-1. This win moves his singles record to 8-3 on the year.
- Michel one-upped Murphy at No. 4 singles, winning in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1. With the win, Michel improves his record in singles' play to 8-5.
- Baldwin won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles. The Davenport, Iowa now has a 5-7 record in singles play.
- Freshman Nick Baron made his third appearance for Loras in singles' play and won his third match in-a-row in straight sets 6-0, 6-1. Baron, with this win, moves his singles record to above .500 at 2-1.

UP NEXT
The men are back in action on Saturday, facing Luther in a neutral site meeting in Waverly. The women's next outing is on Sunday as they head north of Milwaukee to face Alverno in non-conference action.
