Box Score 2 DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras College baseball team dropped the final two games of its Iowa Conference doubleheader to Coe on Saturday by scores of 8–0 and 13–11. Junior
Tony Heiser led the way in game one, finishing 3-for-4 from the dish, but was stranded on base in each of his trips. Game two was led by sophomore
Ryan Koester who turned in his most powerful performance to date. Koester sent two fly balls over the fence in left center to contribute five RBIs.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS - Game One
- Senior Alex Steines was tagged with his third loss of the season following a start in game one. Steines lasted five innings despite allowing eight hits and five earned runs.
- Steines pitched a clean second and third inning, but ran into bases loaded trouble in both the fourth and fifth.
- Senior Nick Petruzzi turned in a solid relief outing, coming in for sophomore Matt Greene . Petruzzi allowed two runners on, but limited the damage in his lone inning of work.
- Heiser finished 3-for-4 from the plate, the lone Duhawk with multiple hits in game one. This was Heiser's seventh multi-hit performance of the season.
- Freshman Danny Paluch went 0-for-1 from the plate, but drew two walks. This is the second time Paluch has drawn multiple walks in a game this season.
LORAS HIGHLIGHTS - Game Two
- Sophomore Robert Hovey started the first game of his career in game two, but was unfortunately bounced after two innings pitched. Hovey allowed five hits and six earned runs, while striking out one.
- Hovey was replaced by senior Kyle Hoffman who pitched the longest outing of his Duhawk career at 3.1 innings. Hoffman was tagged with his first career loss after allowing five runs during his outing.
- Freshman Austin Konagel reached base four times in game two, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and a walk.
- With a 1-for-4 performance in game two, Heiser increased his hitting streak to seven games.
- Junior Nolan Ritter stole his team-high seventh base in the eight inning.
- Junior Thomas Johnson turned in his fifth multi-hit performance of conference play on Saturday, going 4-for-5 with four RBIs and a double in game two.
- Koester had the Duhawks second multi-home run game of the season, hitting home runs in the first and fourth innings.
- In the first start of his young career, freshman Robbie Agerbeek went 2-for-4 from the dish out of the designated hitter position.
FRIEDMAN GROUP PLAYER OF THE GAME
Tony Heiser | Heiser led the way in game one, collecting three of the Duhawks six total hits. The junior raised his season batting average to .351 at the conclusion of the Coe series.
Thomas Johnson | Johnson went 4-for-5 in game two, and 8-for-13 in four games against the Kohawks. With his series performance Johnson raised his season batting average to .410, the lone Duhawks above the .400 mark.
Ryan Koester | Koester hit his team-leading fifth and sixth home runs on Saturday, each of which flew over the left center fence. The junior has four home runs in his last eight games and six in conference play.

Loras will finish their the season series against Univ. of Dubuque on Tuesday. This half of the series will be at home for the Duhawks, with first pitch from Petrakis Park set for 3:30 p.m.
