Men’s Tennis Handed Loss by No. 36 Coe

DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's tennis team was shutout by No. 36 Coe on Tuesday afternoon, 9–0. A young Duhawk squad was unable to keep pace with the Kohawks who clinched their fifth straight Iowa Conference title with the win on Thursday.

LORAS HIGHLIGHTS
  • Coe showed their power early in the match by winning all three doubles matches, 8–2.
  • Junior Jason Derby got the nod to represent the Duhawks at the No. 1 singles. The Cuba City, Wis. native lost in straight sets 6–1, 6–0, moving his singles record to 7–8 on the year. 
  • Freshman Sean Baldwin dropped his first set at No. 5 singles, 6–0. In set two, he created enough offense to earn three game victories, but in the end, suffered a 6–3 defeat. The Davenport, Iowa native now has a singles record of 6–10 on the year. 
  • Freshman Tom Auge made his debut in the singles lineup for the Duhawks, playing in the No. 6 spot. The Dubuque, Iowa native held a 4–3 lead in the first set, but then dropped the next three games losing set one 6–4 before being shutout in set two, 6–0.

UP NEXT
Loras hosts Wartburg Wartburg on Saturday in the regular season finale. The Knights will come in with 12–11 overall record and 4–2 in the Iowa Conference. First serve is scheduled for 9 a.m.
