MACON, Ga. (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's and women's tennis teams both picked up wins on Monday against Brewton-Parker. Both sides staked claim to 8-1 victories with the men's team improving to 11-4 and the women's team improving to 14-7.
HIGHLIGHTS
Men
- Senior Jason Derby teamed up with junior Kevin Murphy to earn the duo's 12th win of the season at No. 1, 8-4.
- At No. 2 doubles, Baldwin and Michel stole the match up with an 8-2 victory.
- Brewton-Parker was forced to forfeit at No. 3 doubles as a result of only dressing five players for Monday's dual.
- Derby elevated his record to 13-2 this season at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-0 win.
- At No. 3 singles, sophomore Riley Michel posted a 6-1, 6-1 win for his 11th of the year.
- Sophomore Sean Baldwin edged out Brewton-Parker's Marcos Reyes, 6-4, 6-1, for a win at No. 4 singles.
- After overcoming a 5-0 deficit in set one, sophomore Eric Zirzow pulled out a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles, improving to 8-4 on the season.
Women
- Dickhut and senior Kylie DeWees improved to 11-9 on the year with an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
- At No. 2 doubles, Cooke and Graziano shutout Brewton-Parker with an 8-0 score to move to 8-3 on the season.
- Craff and Molidor at No. 3 doubles completed the sweep for the Duhawks, winning 8-0.
- Senior Jessica Dickhut improved to 14-5 on the year with a 6-1, 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot.
- At No. 3 singles, sophomore Emma Cooke shutout the Baron's Graycen Tanner in straight sets, to improve to 18-2 this season.
- After moving to pro-set scoring, freshman McKenna Craff picked up her 14th win of the season at No. 4 singles, 8-0.
- With an 8-1 win, junior Ayla Graziano moved past the .500 mark on the year at No. 5 singles.
- Picking up her ninth win at No. 6 singles on Monday was junior Rachael Molidor after winning the first set 6-2. Brewton-Parker's Katie Sills injury defaulted after the first set.

The women's tennis team is back in action on April 20 against Monmouth on the road with first serve scheduled for 4 p.m. The day before, April 19, the men's tennis team takes on crosstown rival, Dubuque, in a crucial Iowa Conference match up and is set to begin at 4 p.m.
