DUBUQUE, Iowa (Duhawks.com) - The Loras men's tennis team improved to 12-4 (2-3 IIAC) on Thusday with a 5-4 defeat of Dubuque. Senior
Jason Derby led the way for the Duhawks, going 2-0 with wins in both singles and doubles.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Sophomore Eric Zirzow and sophomore Joe Jonauch opened with an 8-6 at No. 3 doubles, and leveled at 3-3 this season as a duo.
- After Dubuque equalized with a win at No. 2, the Duhawks closed out doubles play with a battle at No. 1, fighting back to win in the tiebreaker, 9-8 (7-5). Derby and junior Kevin Murphy recorded their ninth win in their last 10 outings and fifth straight.
- At No. 1 singles, Derby won his 13th straight and improved to 14-2 this season.Â
- Sophomore Riley Michel won at No. 3 singles, 7-5, 6-0, and is now 7-3 in his last 10 matches.
- The Duhawks picked up a singles' win from sophomore Sean Baldwin at the No. 4 spot, 6-3, 6-3.Â
