Box Score 1 LAKE BLUFF/SOUTH BARRINGTON, Ill. – The Loras College women's tennis team traveled to the Chicago area on Saturday and suffered a pair of loses against Lake Forest College and North Park University.
Loras 0, Lake Forest 7
In doubles play, the purple and gold tried to secure the point for the team but fell one match short. At No. 2 doubles,
Leia Papanicholas and
Ellie Kalina fell 1-6. At No. 1 doubles,
Mary Breitbach and
Dorothy Deans met a similar fate, losing 2-6. The lone win for the Duhawks came from the battle at the No. 3 spot where
Caroline Hutchinson and
Alexis Tatum outlasted the Forester's Kate Feist and Anika Kinnear 7-5. However, without at least two wins in doubles play, the Duhawks walked into singles play down 0-1.
At No. 3 singles, Papanicholas was defeated 4-6, 0-6. Deans was bested by Lilli Dockal 0-6, 2-6 at the No. 2 spot. At the No. 1 spot, Breitbach also fell 2-6, 1-6. Hutchinson was outlasted by Sara Lopez 1-6, 3-6 at the No. 4 singles position. At No. 5 singles, Kalina fell short 0-6, 2-6. Finally, at No. 6, Tatum lost 1-6, 3-6, leaving the final match score 0-7.

Against the North Park University (9-2, 7-1 CCIW), the Duhawks tried in the doubles play but were unable to produce a win. At No. 2 doubles, Papanicholas and Hutchinson fell 0-6. At No. 1 doubles, Breitbach and Deans suffered a 1-6 loss. At No. 3 doubles, Kalina and Tatum competed but came up short 3-6. Loras ( went into singles play at a 0-1 deficit.
At No. 1 singles, Breitbach fell to NPU's Alexandra Ristfeldt 2-6, 2-6. At No. 5 singles, Kalina battled but fell short 4-6, 2-6. Deans took at loss at the No. 2 spot 1-6, 4-6. Papanicholas met the same result at the No. 3 spot, falling 0-6, 1-6. Hutchinson came up short in a close fight at the No. 4 spot, falling to Madeline Starr 5-7, 4-6. The sole win for the Duhawks came from
Alexis Tatum at the No. 6 spot defeating Felicia Sunden 1-6, 7-5, 1-0(1).
Up Next: The Loras College women's tennis team travels to Orlando, Fla. for a series of five spring break matches between March 11-13. Their first opponent will be King's College.
