  • Captain of both the baseball and basketball teams for three seasons.
  • Help lead Loras to a 27-27 record on the basketball courts during his career, including victories over college basketball powerhouses Valparaiso and DePaul.
  • A four-year member of the Loras "C" club, comprised of varsity athletes who promoted good sportsmanship.
  • A leader off the field as well, Koob, served as president of the Loras Crusaders, was a member of the choir, Purgold and Knights of Columbus.
  • Following graduation Koob played professional baseball in Milwaukee, Madison and Rock Island before returning to Dubuque to teach.
  • After his playing days, was a coach at Jefferson Junior High
