When it comes to dominance in the sport of cross country and track & field, there's one name that comes to mind … Marcus Murphy. From 2000-04, Murphy annihilated the competition on his way to four Iowa Conference Championships in cross country, earning Conference MVP honors each of his four seasons as a Duhawk. Murphy added three All-Conference honors in track & field as well as five All-American distinctions, three in cross country and two in the 5k for track & field. Throughout his career, Murphy was a 14-time IIAC Male Athlete of the Week and was a two-time IIAC Champion in the 1500m. He ranks in the top-three all-time at Loras in the indoor 3k as well as in the indoor distance medley relay. Hailing from Ankeny, Murphy has continued his support of Duhawk Athletics through his participation in the annual alumni meet and a valuable voice of encouragement to future Loras student-athletes.
