The late 90's were a special time for the track & field programs at Loras College, thanks in part to the lightning speed of student-athletes like Wendy Ellis. Along with her teammates, Ellis led Loras to back-to-back Iowa Conference Championships in 1998 and 1999, in the process shattering school records and collecting plenty of hardware.

Over her career as a Duhawk, Ellis primarily competed in the 400m Dash, 4x200m Relay, and 4x400m Relay. Ellis has her name connected to four school records in these categories, namely the Indoor 400m Dash (57.38), Outdoor 400m Dash (55.51), Outdoor 4x200m Relay (1:43.33) and the Outdoor 4x400m Relay (3:48.87).

A nine-time All-American while at Loras, Ellis set three of her four school records at the NCAA Championships. Spanning her four-year career, Ellis made the most of her final go-round, reaching the podium three times at the 1999 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Her relay team's finish in the 4x400m resulted in a time of 3:48.87, good for third place in the country.

A native of Country Club Hills, Illinois, Ellis graduated from Rich Central High School before attending Loras. A 1999 graduate, Ellis earned her degree in communications. Today, Ellis is the Executive Director of YMCA Metro Chicago.

The Loras College Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1983 and recognizes former student-athletes for their exemplary athletic achievements and contributions made to Loras College.
