From 1985 to 1989, San Jose Pool was the home to one of the greatest swimmers in Loras' history in Mary (Doyle) Shey. A four-year star under head coaches Bob Wren and Pete Ross, Shey swam her way to three All-American honors in both 1m and 3m Diving and was also recognized for her classroom success in 1986 as an Academic All-American. In each of her four years at Loras, Shey qualified for the national championships, with her best finish coming in 1986 when she placed 11th in the 3m dive. After graduating from Loras with a degree in sociology, Shey now lives in Lebanon, Ohio where she is a Retail Merchandiser at the Business Research Innovation Center. Shey and her husband, Christopher, have two daughters, Rachael and Isabel.
